GSBS PhD student Tristen Tellman was appointed a predoctoral fellow to the UTHealth Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) Innovation in Cancer Prevention Research Training Program. Tellman is affiliated with the GSBS Program in Biochemistry and Cell Biology and her advisor is Mary (Cindy) Farach-Carson, PhD.
Dean Michelle Barton, PhD, will be leaving the Graduate School on August 31 to accept a leadership role at the Cancer Early Detection Advanced Research Center of the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute in Portland, Oregon. Her eight years of leadership with Michael Blackburn, PhD, and her 20 years of innovative research at MD Anderson have had extraordinary and lasting impacts on trainees, faculty and cancer patients alike.
At the Graduate School, we support our GSBS community members as we cultivate a community of trust and understanding for all our students, faculty, and staff. We particularly want our Black students and all communities of color and other identities to know that we stand with you always. We stand against acts of racial insensitivity and prejudice and denounce these actions taken by or against any member of our community.
