The Graduate Program in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology provides rigorous interdisciplinary education and training in the broad fields of structural biology, membrane biology, cell biology, gene regulation, and translational research. Our faculty span a range of disciplines at the forefront of biomedical research. Graduates of this program will have extensive training traversing from single molecules to human disease pathogenesis. Our well-funded faculty work together through common and collaborative interests to make high-impact discoveries relevant to human health. The greatest strength of our program is our dedicated faculty who are committed to outstanding graduate education.

The program is housed in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the The University of Texas Medical School at Houston (now known as McGovern Medical School). Faculty from the Departments of Integrative Biology and Pharmacology, Microbiology and Molecular Genetics and The Institute of Molecular Medicine are also contributors our graduate program. There are many opportunities for collaboration across diverse disciplines, leading to a truly interdisciplinary training environment. In addition to formal classroom and laboratory training, students will also participate in many other enriching activities including a seminar series, research workshop, and annual retreat. Our goal is to provide an exceptional training environment that effectively prepares students for the next step in their career.

Entrance into our program is initiated by first applying for admission to the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. We look forward to you joining our program, and please contact us if you have any questions.
