Description

Guided readings will be the basis for in-class discussions on current topics in toxicology.  The discussions include the historical context for our understanding of toxicant-induced adverse health effects.  Class activities will be based on discussions of books designed for the lay public and the scientific literature on which the books are based.  Principle mechanisms of toxicity as they relate to the understanding of environmentally-induced disease form the framework for the course.  In-depth reviews of various classes of environmental contaminants and their adverse health effects will be presented.  The course is cross-listed at UT School of Public Health (PH 2177).  The venue of the course will be at the SPH.
