Course Requirements – PhD Students
In addition to the general GSBS course requirements, the CTS Program has the following course requirements:
- Comprehensive course in Human Pathobiology
- Weekly seminar in translational research
- Additional coursework in biochemistry, biostatistics, bioinformatics, systems biology, cancer biology and other areas relevant to the student’s research area
- Clinical rotations and training with physicians to gain sufficient knowledge of clinical medicine to design effective translational research projects and to lead translational teams that include physicians
- Participation in seminars, journal clubs, and clinical grand rounds in translational research and the student’s area of specialization
- Publication of at least one first-author article based on the student’s dissertation research
Course Requirements – MS Students
MS students affiliated with the CTS Program must satisfy the general GSBS course requirements for MS students. Courses could include:
- Cancer Biology or Basic and Translational Cancer Biology
- Human Protocol Research
- Ethics in Clinical Trials Research
- Translational Sciences: From Bedside to Bench and Back
- Seminars in Clinical Cancer Research
- Translational Cancer Research
- Introduction to Bioinformatics
- Seminars in Clinical Cancer Treatment
- Resources and Methods for Analysis of Patient-Derived Samples
- Publication of at least one first-author paper in press/published
