The main objective of my research is to investigate the molecular events that are associated with the progression of human melanoma from radial growth phase to the vertical growth phase (metastatic phenotype) with the emphasis in developing therapeutic means to block metastases formation. Recently we have identified the transcription factors AP-2 and CREB/ATF-1 as an important regulators of several genes involved in the progression of human melanoma.

A tutorial in my laboratory would provide experience in basic and advanced molecular biology in gene expression and regulation of tumor metastasis.
