The primary focus of my research is MRI neuro application, including diagnostic, perfusion, fMRI and cancer staging.  This involves new pulse sequence design and implementation to improve signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), contrast-to-noise ratio (CNR) and data acquisition speed.  Recently I am involved with fMRI, and developed interests in data acquisition method to generate strong and robust blood-oxygen-level dependent (BOLD) signal, as well as an efficient way of fMRI data process.   Another area of interests is quantitative MR imaging, such as T2*-weighted perfusion imaging and dynamic contrast enhanced T1-weighted imaging for blood flow assessment to monitor cancer treatment.

A tutorial in this laboratory would provide student experience with a small project to get hands-on experience about how MR image is generated, how much scientific and technical knowledge are involved in MRI comparing to other diagnostic modalities.
