My academic research has focused on on genetic counseling and inherited predispositions to gastrointestinal cancers (colorectal, small bowel, stomach, esophagus, pancreas, and hepatobiliary tract), with particular interest in adolescents and young adults with early-onset colorectal cancer. My syndrome-specific research has included Lynch syndrome, Lynch-like syndrome, constitutional mismatch repair deficiency syndrome, and the inherited polyposis syndromes. I am also interested in patient attitudes toward genetic testing and the use of next-generation sequencing (‘panel’ testing) for hereditary predispositions to cancer.
