My research emphasis is on mechanisms of uterine and ovarian cancer pathogenesis and development of cancer prevention strategies for women at increased risk of cancer.  This research focuses on hereditary cancer syndromes (Lynch syndrome and Hereditary Breast Ovarian Cancer Syndrome), as well as carcinogenesis related to obesity and metabolic dysfunction.  Translational research in our laboratory spans across cell culture systems, genetically engineered mouse models, human tissue studies, and clinical trials.

Depending on the interests of the student, a tutorial in my laboratory would provide experience in cell culture; biochemical and molecular biology techniques (western blot analysis, DNA/RNA/protein extraction from tissues and cell lines, and RT-PCR); animal models of cancer and chemoprevention; and human tissue sample analyses.
