Students, faculty, postdocs and staff in the Genetics and Epigenetics Program community exhibit their visual art, perform musical pieces, read their poetry and showcase craft and culinary talents at our annual Arts Showcase. First Annual G&E Research Symposium (April 12, 2018, Onstead Auditorium, Mitchell BSRB). 8:30 AM - 6:00 PM
Organized by G&E students, this all-day symposium features student speakers, keynote address by Dr. Vivian Cheung, HHMI Investigator, University of Michigan, faculty highlight speaker, Dr. Louise Strong, of MD Anderson and Past-President of the AACR, and career development activities.  Everyone in the G&E community and larger GSBS graduate school community is invited to participate.

Rotation Talks (March 1, 2018 at 1:00 pm, GSBS Large Classroom, Mitchell BSRB)
First year students doing a tutorial in the lab of a G&E faculty member are invited to give a short talk at the end of the tutorial period to present the findings of their research project. The Winter 2018 talks will be Thursday, March 1 at 1:00p in the GSBS Large Classroom. The Fall 2017 talks were held December 7th at 1:00 pm in the GSBS Large Classroom. Pizza served! Lunar New Year Event (March 1, 2018 at 3:00 pm, GSBS Commons)
G&E celebrates the Year of the Dog at its Lunar New Year networking event featuring traditional refreshments and Chinese calligraphy, lantern riddles, origami dogs, and knotted bracelets. The event is organized by students Chang Sun, Danielle Little and Yongming Xue. All members of G&E program labs welcome!

Ugly Sweater Afternoon Jingle & Mingle Networking Event
Students, faculty and postdocs gathered for a late afternoon mixer on December 6th in the GSBS Commons with home-baked cookies and 'ugly' seasonal sweaters. This was followed by a viewing of the movie "Elf" with popcorn and hot cocoa served in the Large Classroom. The event was organized by G&E students Sydney Moyer and Mimi Uyen.

Halloween Ice Cream Social and Cookie Decorating Event
G&E students, Danielle Little and Lalit Patel, organized a Halloween ice cream social and cookie decorating event October 23rd to which all first year students were invited. 

G&E Annual Program Retreat
The annual retreat was held October 14, 2017 at MD Anderson's Science Park Campus in Smithville, Texas. Program students and faculty gathered together for a day of student talks, posters, and scientific and social exchange.
