Our first and foremost concern is providing our students a safe and healthy atmosphere for both didactic classes and in person research experiences. At UTHealth and MD Anderson, the incidence of COVID-19 infection has been low, especially in the research environment. Over the past four months, only a few isolated cases have been reported in research buildings on our campus. For information on cases in the greater Houston area, the Texas Medical Center Coronavirus Dashboard is updated daily. In addition, the GSBS Alerts Page is updated frequently and contains information regarding polices of our parent institutions, FAQs and updates to GSBS policies while working from home.
Some of you may be moving from areas where incidences of COVID-19 are low and have some anxiety related to living in Houston during the pandemic. Some helpful tips for living in Houston during this time are below.
- Masks are required in businesses in Harris County for individuals over the age of 10.
- Utilizing services such as grocery pickup and food delivery are a good way to minimize exposure. Many local grocery stores are waiving the fee for online orders, particularly if orders are made in advance.
- PPE, including face shields, will be issued to all students.
