MD Anderson Parking

For students who wish to park at GSBS on Friday evening, parking validations will be available at the retreat. Please come to the registration desk to receive them.

BirdDog Saint Parking

Parking at the BirdDog Saint will be limited to street parking, so if you wish you can take the train or you can carpool with other students to the restaurant and back.

Houston Museum of Natural Science Parking

Free parking is available in the parking garage that is physically connected to the museum.  When you drive on Hermann Drive, turn on Caroline Street and turn right into the parking garage. Validations will be given by the museum for this garage only.

Meeting Registration

Meeting Registration at MD Anderson: Please register at the desk just outside of the meeting rooms in FCT3 Rooms 3, 4, 5 & 6 on the 3rd Floor of Pickens Tower. Registration is Friday, October 25th from 3:00 – 3:30 pm.
Meeting Registration at Museum of Natural Science: Please register at the desk in our meeting space – Moran Lecture Hall.  Registration is Saturday, October 26th from 9:00 – 10:00 am.  The museum opens at 9 am, so please do not arrive before then.  Take the garage elevator to the 1st floor, walk through the gift shop and a museum employee can assist you if you need directions to the room. The Moran Lecture Hall is on the Lower Level (LL on the blue placard).  They will ask you upon entrance to the museum for a ticket. Tell them you are with the “Quantitative Sciences Student Retreat” and they will grant you access.

Poster Set-Up

Poster set-up starts at 3:00 pm on Friday and will be held in Pickens Tower, FCT 3 rooms 1, 2, 7 & 8.   All posters will be mounted on numbered 48” x 46” white cardboard, tri-fold stands placed on tables. Push pins and Velcro tabs will be provided on site. Odd numbered posters will be presented Friday evening from 4:30 pm - 5:15 pm and even numbered posters will be presented Friday evening from 5:30 – 6:15 pm.

Poster Tear-Down

Please remove your poster by Friday at 7:30 pm. The retreat organizers are not responsible for any posters at the end of the meeting.

Abstract Books

Abstract books will be provided to all poster judges.  A limited number of abstract books will also be available in the poster session hall.

Speaker Instructions

Please submit your slides to Amy Carter at by October 22nd.


Meals will be provided, starting with snacks on Friday afternoon at MD Anderson and Dinner at the BirdDog Saint.  On Saturday, a light breakfast and lunch will be provided at the Museum of Natural Science.
