Many non-GSBS external awards exist to help graduate students fund their scientific training, including those provided by the NIH as training grants or as individual fellowships.

Annual dissertation awards are given to GSBS PhD students that graduated during the previous year.

Through generous philanthropic support, GSBS recognizes the accomplishments of more than 100 of its students each year with competitive awards totaling more than $1,200,000 of support.

GSBS provides interest-free short term emergency loans to students. Long term loans are also available through the UT Financial Aid Office.

GSBS provides funds to help students participate in scientific meetings and off-site courses.
