My research aims to improve outcomes in radiation oncology through high quality and quantitative imaging.  A lot of my work measures how much radiation therapy patients benefit from improvements in imaging. This work provides the evidence needed by decision makers to justify the implementation of high-quality imaging outside of large hospitals and cancer centers, which improves the care of patients in small and medium sized clinics across the country.

I also work with mathematicians and physicians to develop mathematical models that use quantitative imaging to predict how a patient’s tumor will respond to therapy either before or at the beginning of treatment. This prediction allows us to detect potential failures before they happen, when we can still adjust the therapy to improve the outcome.
