Dr. Fada Guan has extensive experience in the application of Geant4 Monte Carlo simulation in medical radiation physics and radiation biology.  His major research areas include the physical characteristics and biological effects of proton and heavier-ion-radiotherapy such as helium and carbon ions.  He is an expert in the application of microdosimetry in the biophysical modeling of particle therapy.  He has extended his research to X-ray Bragg diffraction to develop novel radiotherapy modality.  He has also applied his expertise in investigating the detrimental effects of outer space radiation to astronauts and developing novel shielding methods to reduce the radiation risks of space traveling.  His recent research focuses on mechanistic investigations of ultra-high dose rate (FLASH) proton therapy.
