Lenay Johnson joined the Graduate School in 2022. As Director of Student Affairs and Admissions, she works with the faculty and admissions teams to coordinate all aspects of admitting new students. When she's not supporting the newest members of the Graduate School, Lenay enjoys spending time outdoors. Keep reading to learn more about Lenay!

What is your current title, and what do you do day-to-day?

I'm the Director of Student Affairs and Admissions. My day-to-day changes depending on the time of year and where we are in the admissions cycle. If I had to sum it up in one sentence, I would say that I work with the faculty and the admissions team to plan out visitation weekends, interviews, and orientation, as well as building and analyzing admissions reports.

Are you working on any upcoming projects?

My current project is orientation planning. We are working on all the logistics to bring orientation together. My second project is researching applications systems, as we may retire Embark and move to a new system in 2025.

What excites you the most about working at the Graduate School?

Teamwork. I get excited about working with the admissions team and developing their skillsets. I also enjoy working with the cross functional teams during events and event preparation.

Do you have any hobbies outside of work?

I love the outdoors: gardening, camping, fishing, etc.

What skills do you find most valuable in your work?

Relationship building and organization.

Do you have a favorite memory at the Graduate School so far?

Taking down the banner after the alumni reunion.
