Ted Tabor, MS, CGC is a Genetic Counselor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences Department at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. He received his BS in Psychology with a minor in Biology from Grand Valley State University in 2019 and his MS in Genetic Counseling from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2021. His primary focus is to provide prenatal and preconception genetic counseling services at several Houston area clinics. In clinic he supervises and mentors Genetic Counseling students, Maternal Fetal Medicine fellows, Medical Genetics fellows, and OB/GYN residents on their prenatal genetics rotations. He is an active member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors, participating in the Prenatal, ART/Infertility, and Cancer Special Interest Groups. Ted has several research interests including public health genomics, psychosocial issues and outcomes in genetic counseling, and increasing access to genetic counseling services. As a graduate student, his thesis project involved collaborating with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) Cancer Genomics Program to evaluate local health departments’ practices related to hereditary cancer risk assessment, education, and referral.
