My research interests are in development of novel detectors and instrumentations for the improvement of proton therapy. As a member of the Scintillation Lab, I’ve specialized in the experimental validation of ionization quenching models. I’ve investigated how the light output of scintillators is affected by high linear energy transfer (LET) of particle therapy. Projects in detector development can span from feasibility studies to characterization of novel real time detectors that can measure quantities beyond dose. My clinical research as a proton physicist includes stereotactic body proton therapy (SBPT), ocular proton beam therapy, and the integration of surface-guided radiation therapy (SGRT) to improve patient setup and motion management.
