My research interests are primarily focused in prenatal and preconception genetic counseling. As a graduate student, my thesis involved interviewing patients who pursued genome sequencing in non-anomalous pregnancies. This experience sparked my interest in qualitative research involving the patient perspective as well as innovative diagnostic testing. Specifically, I am interested in how the standard of care in prenatal genetic testing is continuously evolving. As testing methodologies change and diagnostic yields increase, it is necessary to incorporate the patient perspective into these test’s implementations in routine care. In addition to diagnostic testing, I am also interested in prenatal screening options. Besides prenatal genetic counseling, another area of interest is education, particularly genetic counseling graduate programs. I hope to be involved in genetic counseling graduate students’ thesis committees.
