Our Neuro-Mucosal Immunology Laboratory explores (1) neuro-immune interactions, (2) host-microbe interactions, (3) inter-organ communication, and (4) host metabolism in health and diseases. We are particularly interested in the multi-directional communication between central nervous system tissues (e.g., brain, meninges and skull), host mucosal tissues (e.g., gastrointestinal and respiratory system tissues), and metabolic tissues in the context of stroke, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and psychosocial stress, with special emphasis on the therapeutic roles of the microbiome and metabolome. Additionally, we have established two experimental platforms for translational and innovative research: (1) patient induced pluripotent stem cell-derived organoids and assembloids and (2) single-cell and spatial transcriptomics analyses with related key instruments.
Our laboratory can provide comprehensive hands-on experience in fundamental experimental techniques (e.g., flow cytometry, imaging, qPCR, cell culture and animal behavioral tests) and data analysis (e.g., RNA sequencing, metagenomics and metabolomics).
