My research effort focuses on improving outcomes of patients with leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) in particular.  We are trying to achieve this goal by improving our understanding of  the molecular basis of these group of diseases as well as by developing new therapeutic alternatives (developed in our lab) for patients with these conditions.

Currently, my lab effort focuses on:

1)    Identification of new molecular lesions in MDS.  We have approached this by performing genome-wide CHIP-seq techniques mapping specific histone modifications such as H3KU Me 3

2)    To study the role of effectors of the NF-KB pathway in MDS.  Both aims require the development of primary MDS culture techniques, an aim that we are developing at the present time.

3)    Development of new rationally therapeutic approaches for patients with MDS.
Currently 8 members work in my lab with diverse experience and backgrounds in leukemia research.  A rotation in my lab will provide opportunities to work in basic aspects of leukemia as well as more translational aspects of doing development.
