Samantha Montgomery is a genetic counselor and assistant professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at the McGovern Medical School at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She received her BS in Human Development and Family studies from Auburn University in 2016 and her MS in Genetic Counseling from the UTGCP in 2019. Samantha serves as the Coordinator of Ethics and Outreach with the program where she is the course coordinator for Biomedical Ethics for the Genetic Counselor and co-coordinates Psychosocial Issues II. In this role, she also coordinates program outreach efforts and student activities. Samantha primarily provides prenatal genetic counseling services, but also sees individuals and families interested in genetic counseling for preconception and psychiatric indications. She is an active member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) where she serves on the Awards Committee and the Environmental Scan workgroup through the Access and Service Delivery Committee. Her research interests include psychiatric genetics, reproductive justice and the influence of abortion legislation on the field of genetic counseling.
