Information for Instructors about GSBS Classroom Capacities

In identifying a room for your class please be sure to keep in mind current institutional guidelines for maximum room occupancy.  The classrooms at GSBS are governed by MD Anderson guidelines, which presently allow for 100% occupancy.  Masks are required and all occupants should observe social distancing in choosing seats.

  • GSBS Faculty Development Fund Application

    About the Fund:

    The GSBS Faculty Development Fund is designed to empower our GSBS faculty members to take charge of their professional growth and development. This initiative aims to support and encourage GSBS faculty to lead their own development in areas critical to academic prowess and outstanding student mentoring. We are pleased to offer this opportunity for our faculty to apply for funding to enhance their skills and expertise.

    Funding Limit:

    Please note that the maximum award for each approved application is $500. You may request funding for a variety of activities and resources, including workshops, online courses, books, and other resources, as long as they align with the areas of focus outlined below. Applications will be received through July 31, 2025 and as long as funding is available. All approved purchases need to be made and receipts received and processed by August 1, 2025.

    We understand that faculty members may have varying needs for their professional development. Whether it's investing in a comprehensive workshop or acquiring a specific book or resource, we welcome and encourage applications for both small and larger requests.

    Areas of Focus:

    The GSBS Faculty Development Fund supports development in the following areas:

    1. Enhancement to Grant Writing
    2. Mentoring Students
    3. Lab Management
    4. Leadership Skills
    5. Curriculum Enhancement
    6. Innovative Teaching Methods
    7. Conference travel, UTHealth Houston faculty only

    We encourage you to explore opportunities within these areas that align with your professional goals.

    Kindly complete the application form to apply for funding for your faculty development initiative. We look forward to supporting your growth as a dedicated member of our GSBS academic community.

    Applications will be reviewed by the Dean's office and decisions will be made within three weeks or less from the date of submission.
