Kehinde ‘Kenny’ Ogunseye has been with the Graduate School since July 2024. In her role as Senior Academic Advisor for the Office of Academic Affairs, she meets with graduate students, facilitates degree plan processes, and supports the scientific writing graduate course. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and reading fantasy novels.

What do you do day-to-day in your role?

My day-to-day consists of advising meetings with graduate students; facilitating several degree plan processes including registration, lab rotations, and reviewing dissertation submissions for graduation; and supporting the scientific writing graduate course. I’m currently working with the course directors to find helpful resources for the students taking the scientific writing course.

What excites you the most about working for the Graduate School?

I’m excited by working with really awesome, talented, and curious students. It’s also wonderful to have hilarious and warm colleagues.

What are your hobbies outside of work?

I love to cook and play with recipes, obsess over Beyonce, read interesting fantasy novels, and watch anime. My favorite recipe to make right now is a nice, homey beef stew.

What skills do you find most valuable in your work?

I find that listening attentively, being proactive, and asking for help when you need it are all really valuable skills to have. I often consult a colleague when problems come up, either to provide resources or expertise to address an issue, or to multiply the brain power and come up with a more creative solution. There are many folks who have been at the Graduate School for years, and they are wells of information and support.

Do you have any favorite moments so far at the Graduate School?

The day I got introduced to the chocolate croissants at the Park, a café near the MD Anderson gift shop. I also enjoyed meeting so many new students during orientation week!
