As senior analyst for data management at the Graduate School, Nguyen Cao, MBA, serves as the main point of contact for the preparation and provision of data related to alumni, faculty members, and students. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling and collecting orchids.
What do you do day-to-day in your role?
I am the main person to pull, prepare, and provide alumni, faculty, and student data. I’m responsible for ad hoc data requests, maintaining the Graduate School database, completing periodical surveys for the Council of Graduate Schools, compiling data for program reviews, and preparing the End-of-Year admissions report.
What projects are you working on?
I am working on the Data Governance project with the Information Technology team and Associate Dean for Management Karen Weinberg, MS, which aims to improve the Graduate School database.
What excites you the most about working at the Graduate School?
Every year, I nominate a different colleague for the Melva S. Ramsay Award for exceptional service to the students, faculty, and staff, and many of my nominees have received the award. I’m happy I could help so many of my coworkers be recognized for their commitment to the school.
What are your hobbies outside work?
I enjoy collecting orchids, playing the guitar, singing karaoke, and traveling. One of my favorite parts of travel is getting the chance to experience new cultures. My favorite place that I’ve visited is Sapa, in my home country of Vietnam, which is famous for its terraced rice fields!
What skills do you find most valuable in your work?
The ability to prioritize my workload and analyze requests so I can provide accurate data for the many diverse projects I work on.
Do you have a favorite memory at the Graduate School?
Receiving the Melva S. Ramsay Award for exceptional service to students, faculty, and staff in 2019.
