Weather update (as of Jan. 15, 2024)

Due to inclement weather conditions, the Graduate School will have a delayed opening on Tuesday, Jan. 16.

  • Students: Graduate School classes will start at noon. Please contact your course director or instructor for more information on whether to expect in-person or remote classes on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
  • Students working in UTHealth Houston labs:  Check with your advisor or lab manager on how the delayed start will impact your work arrangements.
  • Students working in MD Anderson labs: The cancer center is operating as usual with no delayed start. Please contact your advisor or lab manager to discuss work arrangements.

Emergency weather

Inclement weather conditions or natural disasters severe enough to cause closure are very rare, but when they do occur, Graduate School's policy is as follows:

  • With regard to lectures, didactic classes and other official on-campus school functions, the Graduate School will close when our first parent institution (UTHealth Houston or MD Anderson) closes, and re-open when the last one re-opens. The school's website will give the current status of classes.
  • Students should follow their faculty advisor’s institutional policies to determine when to return/report to their laboratories.

Personal Refuge:  UTHealth Houston and MD Anderson are not equipped to serve as a shelter during a hurricane or other emergency situation. Only ride-out team members (whose job responsibilities require their presence on a 24-hour basis) will be permitted access to facilities. Family members and pets will not be permitted to shelter at any UTHealth Houston or MD Anderson facility during a hurricane or other emergency situation.

Students should check the following websites:
