Information for Faculty

All GSBS Faculty members are cordially invited to attend the commencement ceremony. We hope you will be able to participate and commemorate this special event with our graduates who have all benefited from your teaching and mentoring. The ceremony will begin promptly at 10 am, will take about an hour and a half, and will be followed by a reception at the same venue.

Your participation in our graduation ceremony means a lot to our students, and we know you will find it enjoyable as well. Thank you for all that you have done at the GSBS to train the next generation of biomedical scientists!

Personal Hooding of Graduates by Mentors

Those faculty members who served as the research advisors for graduating students will have the option of going onstage to personally place hoods on their students. Please note that faculty must wear regalia if you wish to hood your students. Please indicate on the Faculty Regalia Form if you plan to take part in hooding - and provide the names of your graduating students. 

Expected Arrival for Faculty

Faculty should plan to arrive at the venue by 9:00 am on the day of the ceremony to ensure that they will be dressed in their regalia and lined up in the correct order. GSBS staff will be available to assist.

Regalia for Faculty

Regalia rental is free. To reserve your regalia, please complete this form. If you have any questions about regalia, please contact Joy Lademora. It is important that you complete the order form and submit on time. The deadline to order is March 31, 2024.

You may wear business attire and sit with the audience, however, most of our faculty choose to wear regalia and take part in the ceremony. The Graduate School will pay the regalia rental fee for all faculty who do not have their own.

Regalia Distribution

Rental regalia for faculty will be distributed at the ceremony site, pressed and ready to wear.

Return of Regalia

Graduates and faculty should return their rented regalia package immediately after the graduation ceremony in the designated area. Unreturned regalia will be charged to you at its equivalent purchase amount.
