I am a prenatal genetic counselor that works throughout the city of Houston. My primary clinical sites are in the Maternal-Fetal Medicine clinics at UT Physicians Sugarland, Memorial Hermann Southeast, Memorial Hermann Sugarland, and UT Physicians Memorial City. In these settings, I interact with a wide variety of preconception and prenatal patients. My research interests primarily include patient motivation for pursuing or not pursing various genetic testing options, as well as the psychosocial impact of decision making during pregnancy. As a graduate student, my thesis project revolved around physician approaches to management of patients diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy. I previously served as the research and publications chair for the prenatal special interest group within the National Society of Genetic Counselors. I was also a part of the thesis committee for a graduate student of the UT Genetic Counseling Program. Projects that are currently ongoing include evaluating the value of performing a first trimester ultrasound in pregnancy. I have participated in numerous projects which have been presented at various national conferences.
