As a clinical genetic counselor, I do not have a research program, but I am enthusiastic to help guide genetic counseling students through their thesis projects. As a UTGCP alumna, I am familiar with the thesis process and can provide guidance and advice during this challenging time. I am interested in serving on student’s thesis committees.
My previous research focused on exploring the experiences of racial and ethnic minority patients with genetic counseling in terms of satisfaction, trust, and the potential effect of racial/ethnic concordance. My findings indicated that all participants had a positive experience with genetic counseling, and that factors such as racial/ethnic concordance, cultural competency, and personal characteristics of the genetic counselor contributed to this.
My research interests lie in neurogenetics, variant interpretation, genetic care access, genetic counseling education, and diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice.
