I am a mathematician who received education from the Babes-Bolyai University (Cluj-Napoca, Romania) (BS/PhD in mathematics), the Transilvania University (Brasov, Romania) (MS in applied mathematics) and the University of Copenhagen (Copenhagen, Denmark) (PhD in mathematics). I have a broad background in pure mathematics with specific training in Fourier analysis, numerical analysis and approximation theory that have extensive applications in biology and bioinformatics. I have very good knowledge of programming which is of great help in mastering bioinformatics.
I have experience in analyzing expression profiles of non-coding RNAs and protein coding genes messenger RNAs generated by microarray (commercial and custom-made), qPCR assays or RNA-sequencing technology, as well as experience in analyzing their alternative splicing events, or possible interactions involving them.
I have experience in analyzing data generated by large and complex projects as The Cancer Genome Atlas or The International Cancer Genome Consortium which contain clinical information, genomic characterization data, and high level sequence analysis of the tumor genomes. Integrating large-scale functional genomic data to dissect the complexity of tumor biology and obtain higher-order biological relationships is a challenging multi-level task.
