Event Description
The headlines are rapidly changing while the Texas Legislature is in session as bills are proposed, move through committees, and undergo debate.
Curious if a piece of health legislation made it into law or got caught in a subcommittee? Want to understand how COVID impacted the legislative agenda? Interested in learning which pieces of legislation were widely supported and which were controversial?
A panel of lobbyists and health care leaders who advise providers, the health insurance industry and others will discuss highlights from the 87th Legislature (2021) at noon on Friday, April 8. The discussion will be livestreamed at go.uth.edu/QEPForum.
Panelists include:
- Jamie Dudensing, chief executive officer of Texas Association of Health Plans
- Lindsay Lanagan vice president of government relations and public affairs at Legacy Community Health Houston
- Eric Woomer, principal and founder of Eric Woomer Policy Solutions, a governmental affairs practice
The discussion will be moderated by Kara Crawford, vice president of Government Relations at UTHealth Houston.
The discussion is the second in a series highlighting how public policy affects health care and research. A recap and recording of the first forum on how lobbyists affect health care policy can be found on the UTHealth Houston Intranet.

The series is a collaboration between the Quality Enhancement Plan team and the UTHealth Houston Office of Governmental Relations.
It is part of UTHealth Houston’s Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP), which is focused on Health Care Policy for Health Professionals. Known as HP2, this QEP promotes student engagement, critical thinking, and career preparedness, and reflects the university’s commitment to institutional quality and effectiveness.
